Ball Bearing With High Center External Spherical Surface
1. Product Overview
Pillow block bearings with high-center housing are integrated support units that combine wide-inner-ring deep groove ball bearings with high-center vertical bearing housings. They achieve self-aligning functionality through a spherical mating structure and are specifically designed for rotating shaft systems under complex operating conditions. Their core advantages include compact structure, easy installation, and adaptability to harsh environments, making them widely used in key transmission parts of agricultural, mining, and conveying equipment.
2. Structural Composition & Materials
2.1 Core Components
Bearing Body: Manufactured from GCr15 high-carbon chromium bearing steel. The internal cage and ball design follow the structure of Series 62 and 63 deep groove ball bearings to ensure load-bearing stability.
High-Center Bearing Housing: Made of HT250 gray cast iron (for integral rigid structure) or Q235B steel plate (via stamping). Pre-drilled bolt holes on the base facilitate quick installation.
Sealing System: Standard configuration includes double-layer sealing (synthetic rubber oil seal + oil slinger). Optional dust covers can be added to form triple protection. The oil seal is reinforced with a metal skeleton, and its lip maintains tight contact with the inner ring.
2.2 Key Design Details
Spherical Mating: Both the outer surface of the bearing outer ring and the inner hole of the housing feature spherical structures, forming the basis for self-alignment.
Locking Mechanisms: Three inner-ring fixing methods are available:
Double set screws (arranged at 120° angle)
Adapter sleeves (for taper bore mating)
Eccentric sleeves (suitable for vibrating working conditions)
Lubrication Structure: Pre-installed grease nipple and outer-ring oil groove. Maintenance-free units are pre-filled with high-quality lithium-based grease for long-term use.

4. Installation & Maintenance Guidelines
4.1 Installation Process
Pre-treatment: Remove burrs from the shaft journal and apply anti-rust grease; pull out the fixing pin of the bearing outer sleeve and apply oil to the mating surface of the housing.
Housing Fixing: Insert the bearing into the housing, then fit the assembly onto the shaft end. Do not fully tighten the base bolts temporarily to reserve space for alignment.
Alignment & Locking: Rotate the shaft 2-3 times to allow automatic alignment, then tighten the base bolts. Lock the inner ring using the corresponding method (e.g., axially tapping the eccentric sleeve).
4.2 Maintenance Points
Lubrication Interval: Grease replenishment every 6 months under normal conditions; shortened to 2-3 months for dusty/high-temperature environments. Grease filling volume should be 1/3 to 1/2 of the bearing internal space.
Condition Inspection: Regularly check temperature (normal ≤70℃), abnormal noise, and seal integrity. Replace immediately if defects such as spalling or cracks are found.
Disassembly Rules: First loosen the set screws, tap the eccentric sleeve loose in the direction opposite to shaft rotation, then remove the base bolts to avoid bearing damage caused by misalignment.
